Had no idea hurricanes/typhoons only exist in certain areas. I mean obviously I don’t think they’d exist in, say, a desert but I thought in places that get rain and storms. 🤷🏻♀️ Apparently they need warm water to exist so this makes sense looking at the map, but what’s up with the absence around the equator? https://spaceplace.nasa.gov/hurricanes/en/ also found this map of hurricane typhoon paths from 1985-2005 on Wikipedia.

I think about the saying, “if you know you know,” only cause, there’s no pressure to know about it if you don’t give a shit about it. But there is still like some achknlowedgement to the significance of something — but only in the context of it being of interest. I dunno, I kind of like it I guess… UNLESS, I’m totally misunderstanding the expression and it means you’re a loser if you don’t even get the context of this v important thing. Anyone care to clarify? 🤷🏻♀️

Went to a supermarket yesterday and there were workers stocking produce, and with them a waist high cylindrical robot moving around cleaning the floor. It was the first time I saw a robot working during the day w a team of humans. But this is actually super important cause there is a labor shortage here due to the declining/aging population. There’s another largish supermarket closer to the train station that doesn’t have human cashiers later in the evening 8pmish and is all self checkout. 🤖
Not exactly good news type of stuff
oh dang...climate change can influence earthquakes? 😮 https://www.japantimes.co.jp/environment/2024/06/03/earth-science/noto-seismic-swarm-rain-snow/

Japan will start allocating the ¥10 billion it promised to spend on institutional repositories to make the nation’s science free to read."
I’ve done a few jigsaw puzzles before but I’m not like a huge fan of them. They’re fun when you’re doing it with friends so you can gab while you put them together but it always seemed kind of task-like and anticlimactic tbh. These look pretty cool though and that brief moment he talks about the design of the corner… https://youtu.be/5zX7-Z_jnnM
Until maybe the last decade people I knew rarely visited Japan. Growing up, I think it was like an accepted truth in my mind that no one would ever understand or know what my life was like when I visited my grandma during the summers. Now things are completely different! The downside is that things are expensive as a local and very crowded especially in Tokyo, but the upside is friends visit! https://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/destinations/asia/japan/how-japan-became-one-of-worlds-great-budget-destination/
