Saw this Kamen Rider belt on TV. There’s like a long history w the toy version of the belts that the Kamen Riders of the past wore and used to transform into the Kamen Rider. Lots of clicking in, locking in, flashing lights, flipping panels, moving levers and such. The mechanical effects and physical ritual of the belt to transform is incredibly satisfying on a user/viewer experience level. Anyways this particular belt uses actual cards that can then be used to battle at the arcade games. 💕

Found my mom’s old English book that has a bunch of expressions referencing the literature it comes from. I guess she used it to study when she was young.

There’s an e-ink device called the Boox Palma that is only slightly wider than a mobile phone. It runs Android and takes photos w flash etc. if it were a phone I’d seriously consider it ok. I dunno.. it looks v cute and calm to me.

A curved digital panel at an escalator that I pass often. Are you thinking what I am thinking? But what if it’s not?

I forgot to post this before but this is an activity at the Tokyo Auto show a few weeks back. Basically if you’ve seen the Teamlab activity where you draw a fish and it gets scanned and put into a projected aquarium with other people’s drawn fish swimming about, then this is similar. You draw a race car and then it gets scanned and you can race it against other people’s drawn cars. It was cute to watch.

Tokyo International Car Show 2023 aka Japan Mobility Show was fun. 🚗 “some days don’t go well…” 🤷🏻‍♀️

I like taking screenshots of silly things I see on the internet so I can look at them and chuckle.

It’s summer time here so fireworks season! But not the big scary boom kind like in the US but rather cute, calm fireworks variety packs at the local convenience store.✨ Loved this as a kid and maybe also an adult. Happey Hanabi Memorys🙂

Mentaiko spaghetti

Surprised and excited and admittedly a bit horrified to see an all time favorite dish Mentaiko Spaghetti in a nytimes food article. I know it’s just an interpretation of the dish but… anyways, here’s an image from it cause it’s paywalled.

Made these fabric dish covers for storing food in the fridge with 100yen (dollar store) handkerchiefs and bees wax. You basically iron beeswax so it saturates fabric and then wait for it to cool.

When I die maybe one of those things you’d find in my house that I’d had all along.

Beads exhibition at Shoto Museum in Tokyo. Mexican bead art. Reminded me of pixel art.

Saw a photo like this of Picasso at a museum yesterday and thought of vr/ar drawing experiences. Also Picasso was hot if u ask me.

The running joke in Japanese mastodon seems to be writing mastodon like マスト丼. Don meaning donburi as in bowl. Like 牛丼Gyudon is beef bowl. カツ丼 Katsudon is pork katsu bowl 天丼 tendon is tempura bowl etc. so マスト丼masuto-don lol. when googled I found a recipe for it on cookpad which is the most popular recipe sharing site.

A old but active newspaper vending machine in Tokyo at a neighborhood newspaper distribution point. It’s name is “news-kun” which could probably be translated to something like news buddy. The color combo is particularly 👌
