In light of the Oppenheimer movie, I highly recommend reading “Hiroshima” by John Hersey, which was published in the August 31st, 1946 issue of the New Yorker. The whole issue was dedicated to this one story. https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/1946/08/31/hiroshima
I like taking screenshots of silly things I see on the internet so I can look at them and chuckle.
I haven’t read a lot about the Oppenheimer movie or seen its trailer but please tell me it’s an anti (nuclear) war movie.
It’s summer time here so fireworks season! But not the big scary boom kind like in the US but rather cute, calm fireworks variety packs at the local convenience store.✨ Loved this as a kid and maybe also an adult. Happey Hanabi Memorys🙂

Another game I really enjoyed that came out of the whole wordle trend of minimalist web puzzles is https://semantle.com/ which used to be even more minimalist when it first came out. I got soooo addicted to it.

Mentaiko spaghetti
Surprised and excited and admittedly a bit horrified to see an all time favorite dish Mentaiko Spaghetti in a nytimes food article. I know it’s just an interpretation of the dish but… anyways, here’s an image from it cause it’s paywalled.

You can look stuff up almost immediately on your phone wherever you are but sometimes you’re in mid conversation or maybe you’re traveling and have no data and end up at the mercy of the description that someone is giving you. And maybe their description seems not as informative or convincing as Wikipedia or a video on the internet, which is silly if you rly think abt it. And sometimes their description is just w/out context and seems almost unbelievable, like they might be trolling you.
nyc friends! i am part of the crew organizing an algorave tomorrow night (saturday april 15) at wonderville. we have a killer line up livecoding music and visuals that are broadcast over a pirate TV station onto and as many CRTs as the venue's breaker can handle. its going to be a night of glitchy crunchy analog visuals and its going to be bonkers, come through if youre in town!
My self hosting from a little computer (raspi) in my kitchen went badly a month or so ago. I updated something and didn’t have a full backup 😭And so I deleted my server and started over again. I installed an automatic backup system (borg) and I’m back in business… ✨ #selfhosting
